Description

This is a house dating from the 1810s and 1820s, located on the west side of Ramsey’s Lane in Wooler. It is constructed of random rubble with tooled-and-margined alternating-block dressings.

Originally designed in an L-shape, the house has two storeys and three bays. A single-storey lean-to in the re-entrant angle was later raised to two storeys in the 19th century. The central entrance has a four-panelled door with a margined overlight; it is flanked by late 19th century canted bay windows. The first floor has twelve-pane sash windows. The roof is gabled, with flat coping and corniced end stacks.

Inside, a staircase features stick balusters, turned newels, and a ramped handrail. The entrance hall, stairs, and sitting room have panelled dadoes. Six-panelled doors are fitted with paterae on their architraves.
