Description
The Masonic Hall, originally known as the Western Chapel, is an English Presbyterian church built in 1818, with a porch added between 1830 and 1840. The building is constructed of random rubble with ashlar dressings, and the porch features dressed stone. It has a Welsh slate roof and stands two storeys tall, with a layout of four by three bays and slightly irregular window placements.
The entrance front includes a three-bay single-storey porch that has a central boarded door with a fanlight featuring intersecting glazing bars, all set within a roll-moulded surround with a dripstone. On either side of the door are round-headed windows, also with intersecting glazing bars. The porch is topped with a castellated and moulded parapet, and there is a gable over the door adorned with a finial.
On the first floor, there are four similar windows, and the building features a hipped roof. The right return of the structure also has similar windows.
