Description

The garden wall and gatepiers located east and south of Loreto Guest House date from the late 18th century. They are constructed of random rubble walls lined with brick, featuring ashlar quoins and gatepiers. The walls are notably high, standing between 8 and 10 feet, and have flat coping along the top. The square gatepiers are rusticated and topped with pyramidal caps. There is a doorway to the right of the gatepiers, which has a triangular head and a rusticated surround. The left return on the south side of the garden faces Burnhouse Road, but this section has been partly rebuilt.
