Description
Sanderson Wines and J.G. Fairbairn is a pair of shops with a flat above, dating from the 18th century. The shop fronts were added in the 19th century. The building is rendered and painted white with black trim and features a pantiled roof. It has an L-shaped plan and is two storeys high with four irregular bays.
On the ground floor, there is a boarded central door in a slightly-chamfered surround, flanked by shops with painted-wood fronts. The shop on the left, Sandersons, has fluted pilasters and a cornice supported by paired brackets. The shop on the right, Fairbairns, features pilasters with decorative details and a dentilled cornice.
The first floor has four 4-pane sash windows set in raised surrounds. The building has a steeply-pitched gabled roof, and a wing at the rear includes an old brick ridge stack.
