Description
The Entrance Lodge to Brandling House is a lodge built around 1830, constructed from sandstone ashlar and topped with a Welsh slate roof. It is a single-storey building featuring two main bays, with an entrance bay that is set back to the left, adjacent to the entrance wall of the gateway. The lodge has a modern glazed door with an overlight, framed by a classical doorcase, and two sash windows that are flanked by pilasters. It also has an eaves cornice and a hipped roof. This information is sourced from R. Welford's "History of the Parish of Gosforth Newcastle," published in 1879 and reprinted in 1975.
