Description
The gate piers and stables north of Brandling House date from the late 19th century. The gate piers are made of ashlar, while the stables are constructed from snecked sandstone with pecked ashlar quoins and dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof and stone gable copings. The entrances for both carriages and pedestrians are formed by three tall square piers that feature a plinth, a band, and low pyramidal coping. The stables are arranged around a courtyard, consisting of one low storey with seven bays to the left and six bays to the right of the entrance. The gables above the bays flanking the gate piers have partly-boarded windows and square windows in the gable peaks, all with sloping sills and flat stone lintels. There are five blank bays on either side, defined by buttresses, with a gable over a blind window in the second bay, and the left end bay includes a small window.
