Description

Milestone located in front of Number 12 on Wolsingham High Street. This milestone dates from the mid-19th century and is made of cast iron. It has a triangular shape with a sloping top and stands about half a metre high. The milestone features white low-relief letters on a black-painted background: "WEARDALE H D" is displayed on the top, while "DURHAM 16 MILES" is on the west side and "STANHOPE 5 MILES" is on the east side, each accompanied by a pointing hand above.
