Description
This is a milestone from the mid-19th century located to the east of Parton Police Station. It is made from a single sandstone block that stands about 2 feet high and has a chamfered top. The milestone is square in shape and set diagonally to the road. It is painted white and features a rectangular cast-iron plate on the north face, which has a black border and raised sans-serif lettering that reads: "TO WHITEHAVEN 2 MILES." The plate is missing from the south face.
