Description
This is a farm outbuilding located immediately north of Moresby Hall and the farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century and featuring a late 20th-century roof. The building is constructed from snecked sandstone with ashlar dressings and has a slate roof laid to diminishing courses. It has plain gables and stands two storeys high on the south side, facing the farmyard and Moresby Hall. There are two entrances with plain sandstone lintels and a window between them, while there are no windows above. The building has three slit ventilators located under the eaves. At the rear, accessed via a ramp from field level, there are two doors with similar detailing and one ventilator slit. Inside, there is a stone wall, and the roof features a tie beam, through purlins, and a ridge piece. This outbuilding is a good example of the simple vernacular building traditions of the area and significantly contributes to the setting of the adjacent Moresby Hall. It is listed for its group value.
