Description
Bransty Toll Bar is a toll-house that has been converted into a private dwelling, dated 1854 above the door. It was built for the Whitehaven Turnpike Trust. The building features rendered rubble on a chamfered plinth and has a graduated slate roof with a rendered mid chimney. Decorative barge-boards adorn the gables. The single-storey structure has a three-bay front with a central part-glazed door and fanlight, all within a chamfered surround that has a four-centred head. To the right of the door is a sash window, while the left side features a canted, corniced bay window. Each return has a single sash window under a hoodmould, and all windows are set within chamfered surrounds.
