Description
Marine Terrace is a terrace of six Victorian town houses, dating from 1814. The houses are positioned with their backs to the road and fronts facing a steep embankment, providing views down to the harbour. They are stuccoed and arranged over three storeys. Each house features a panelled door within a moulded stone frame topped with a cornice, some of which are supported by console brackets. A bay window with stone mullions, a cornice, and sash windows is located on the ground floor. The upper floors have two sash windows each, with the main window above the bay window featuring a moulded architrave and cornice. The rear facades incorporate round-headed staircase windows and low kitchen wings. While the quality of construction is considered lower than that of Oak Bank Terrace, the two terraces together contribute to a significant streetscape group. Nos 1 to 6 form a group, and collectively they are grouped with Nos 1 to 10 of Oak Bank Terrace.
