Description
The gate piers, gates, and retaining walls at the Church of St. Mary and St. Stephen date from the mid-19th century and flank the path leading to the church. They are constructed from sandstone ashlar, featuring coursed squared sandstone walls with ashlar dressings and wrought iron gates. The structure includes three chamfered square piers, each with plinths, cornices, and high overlapping pyramidal coping, which create entrances for both vehicles and pedestrians. The gates are spike-headed and include dog bars, along with a central band featuring a diagonal pattern and round bosses. The retaining walls are designed with chamfered plinths and coping, tapering as they approach the church.
