Description
No. 8 Mosley Street is an office building constructed in 1906 by Armstrong and Knowles for W. H. Knowles. It is made of bright red brick with matching sandstone ashlar dressings and features a roof of plain tiles. The building stands four storeys tall with an attic and consists of two bays. The shop front has been renewed and includes a door on the right side.
In the left bay, there are tripartite windows framed in Ionic style, with block rustication on the first floor. The second-floor oriel window features a Tuscan Order and an entablature that breaks forward under a segmental pediment, while the third floor has a Gibbs surround. The right bay contains single sash windows, all of which have upper glazing bars. The roof is topped with a tripartite dormer under a segmental pediment and has a tall brick chimney on the left side. This building is included for its group value with Nos. 2 and 4.
