Description
No. 17 Market Street is a shop and offices built around 1875, with alterations made in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and features a slate mansard roof. It stands four storeys tall, plus attics, and has a three-window range. The ground floor has a late 20th-century shopfront. Above this, there is a canted oriel window that spans two storeys, supported by cast-iron brackets and a balcony railing. On either side of the oriel window are single windows. Each floor has an impost band, and there is a lattice work string course between the floors. Above these, there are four pointed arched windows. The attic features a gabled dormer with two lights, flanked by pilasters. All windows in the building are plain sashes.
