Description
This is a barn and cart shed with a granary over, built around 1800, located approximately 23 meters west of Lodge Farmhouse in Moorsholm. The structure is made of random sandstone rubble with dressed sandstone on the south gable end. It features a Welsh slate roof with a stone ridge, gable copings, and moulded kneelers. The south gable end faces Cow Close Lane and has two basket-arched cart openings with voussoirs. There is a central boarded loft door beneath a pigeon cote in the gable, which is topped with an open pediment on consoles, and above it are two small segment-headed openings set above a floating cornice. The east side has three slit vents on the ground floor, along with two boarded openings on the left side of the granary and a fixed-light window with glazing bars on the right. The west side includes a stable door on the ground floor and slit vents in the granary. Later farm buildings attached to the east, west, and north sides are not of interest. The barn was formerly known as Lane Head Farm.
