Description
3 and 4 Plantation Cottages is a mid-18th century farmhouse that has been converted into two cottages in the early to mid-19th century. The building is constructed of dressed sandstone and has a clay pantile roof with stone ridge and gable copings. It stands two storeys tall.
No. 3, which is on the right, features two windows and a central doorway with a late 20th-century door. There is a 16-pane sash window on the left side of the ground floor, and late 19th-century sash windows to the right and on the first floor. Blocked slit vents are located to the right of the doorway.
No. 4, on the left, has two blocked slit vents on the ground floor and a mid-19th-century sixteen-pane sash window below a late 19th-century first-floor sash window. The roof is steeply pitched and includes a rendered ridge stack and a truncated stack at the right end. There are also blocked slit vents on the ground floor and a blocked garret light with a keystone on the right return, along with a loft door in the left return. The rear of No. 3 shows an altered round-headed doorway with voussoirs. At the time of the survey, No. 4 was disused. An adjoining late 20th-century metal and timber garage on the left end is not of interest.
