Description
44 and 46 Kiveton Lane is a farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the early to mid-18th century, with an early 19th-century addition and later alterations. The building is constructed of rubble sandstone, partly roughcast, and has pantile roofs. It has a T-shaped plan, with No 46 located in the rear wing and No 44 in the front range, which includes an early 19th-century addition on the left.
No 44 is two storeys high and originally had three windows on the first floor. The large quoins project beneath the roughcast. The entrance features a six-panel door set in a raised ashlar surround with a consoled cornice. Flanking the door are four-pane sash windows with projecting sills and keystones under flat arches. There is a first-floor band beneath two similar windows, while a blocked central window has only its keystone visible. The building has renewed brick end stacks.
To the left, there is a single-storey addition with squared rubble walling, which includes a four-pane sash window and features kneelers and gable copings. On the right side, No 46 has two double-chamfered mullioned windows with two lights on the first floor and an end stack. The left side of No 46 has a blocked two-light mullioned window and another window where the mullion has been removed. There is a 20th-century lean-to at the rear of No 46, which is not of special interest.
