Description

The entrance screen and flanking walls at the north-east corner of the park were built around 1860. They are constructed from ashlar stone, while the flanking walls are made of rock-faced stone. The design features a central access arch and side pedestrian arches, which are flanked by tall cruciform piers. The structure exhibits banded rustication, with the rustications forming voussoirs. It includes a plinth, an impost band, a panelled frieze, and a cornice. The main piers are topped with speared horses' heads, representing the crest of the Silvertop family, while the outer piers have moulded finials. There are vertical consoles above the junction with the quadrant walls, and the walls have flat coping that steps down to terminal piers with gabled caps.
