Description
The Stable Block, now functioning as a Retreat Centre, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed from tooled-and-margined ashlar and features a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has nine bays. There is a chamfered plinth, and the central three bays slightly project, adorned with a pediment that includes a round-headed arch fitted with 20th-century glazing and a door. An oculus is present in the pediment. The slightly projecting end bays contain blocked round-headed arches with inserted windows. The remaining windows are 20th-century casements set in original openings. The roof is hipped and has three stepped and corniced ridge stacks, along with a similar lateral stack at bay seven. The rear elevation mirrors the front.
