Description
The Old Farmhouse at Newfield, dating from the late 18th century, features an outbuilding that incorporates earlier materials. The structure is built of rubble with cut quoins and dressings, topped with stone slate roofs. The south elevation of the house is two storeys high and consists of four irregular bays. On the ground floor, there is a 4-pane casement window, a 16-pane Yorkshire sash, and a late 19th-century 4-pane sash. Above, there are 12-pane sashes, all set within alternating-block surrounds. The house has coped gables, a stone stack at the right end, and a ridge stack that has been rebuilt in brick on a stone base. The lower outbuilding to the left has a blocked door and extends to the end of the stone-roofed section. The right return features a coped gable on deep footstones. The rear elevation includes a 4-panel door in an alternating-block surround, with an outshut to the right that has a boarded door flanked by Yorkshire sashes.
