Description
Number 16 on St Mary's Chare is a mid-18th century building that stands two storeys tall with an attic. It features three windows on the first floor and is constructed of coursed rubble. The right-hand corner of the building is corbelled over with a slight splay below the first floor level. The windows are glazing bar sash types. There are two late 19th-century shop fronts, which have fluted pilasters on the fascia and arcaded windows positioned at different heights. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 19A (odd), Nos 2 to 8 (even), and Nos 16 to 20 (even), along with No 4 Meal Market, with No 1 being of local interest.
