Description

This is a two-storey building, likely dating from the 17th or early 18th century. It originally had three storeys. The building features three windows, though it was originally five. It is constructed of coursed rubble with an old slate roof. The windows are sliding sash windows with glazing bars, with tripartite sashes on either side. Formerly, the windows were mullioned with decorative stone dressings ("buck dressings"). Wooden lintels are above the ground-floor windows, and the second-floor windows are now blocked. A small doorway with a bolection moulding is located to the left of centre on the ground floor. A central bowed shop window is fitted with decorative brackets on the fascia. This building is part of a group including numbers 1 to 19A (odd), numbers 2 to 8 (even), numbers 16 to 20 (even), and number 4 Meal Market, and number 1 in the group is of local interest.
