Description
The National Westminster Bank, located at 3 and 5 Battlehill, is a mid to late 19th-century building that includes No 31 St Mary's Chare. The building features recently cleaned ashlar and stands three storeys tall with a curving front facing St Mary's Chare. It has two windows on the street side, two on the curve, and three windows in a later annex to St Mary's Chare. The structure is topped with an overshot moulded cornice. The upper sashes of the sash windows contain glazing bars, although the annex has simplified glazing on the second floor. The entire ground floor has been altered with a modern bank front that includes a continuous fascia, and the entrance is located on the curve. The Old Grey Bull, along with Nos 3 to 11 (odd) and Nos 2 and 4 Cattlemarket, forms a group, with No 2 Cattlemarket being of local interest.
