Description

This milepost, located 380 metres north of Denwick Bridge End, dates from the late 19th century and was made by Smith Patterson Ltd. of Blaydon. It is constructed from cast iron and is painted white with black figures. The milepost features an oval top with faceted twin faces, mounted on a circular fluted shaft that includes a maker's plate. The raised lettering indicates distances to Alnwick (2 miles) and Sunderland (12 miles). The height of the milepost is 0.40 metre.
