Description
The wellhead, located 20 metres southeast of the south corner of the Riding Hotel in Allendale, dates back to 1766 and has been altered over time. It is constructed of dressed stone. The recess features a segmental-arched head and a circular stone bowl. The lintel is inscribed with 'I W MARGARET WELL' along with the date below it. The coping is stepped and raised, likely added in the late 19th century.
