Description

Allendale Town Bridge, built in the early 19th century and altered in the 20th century, spans the River East Allen. The bridge is constructed of squared rubble, with the parapets raised and the south end of the west parapet rebuilt using squared and tooled stone. It features a segmental arch with a moulded arch ring, flanked by pilasters that extend upward as piers. The parapets then splay out to additional piers, and the bridge has triangular-section coping. There is a drain with a large stone spout located in the parapet wall near the north-east end pier.
