Description
This is a milepost located 400 metres south of Rennington South East Farm, likely dating from the late 19th century and made by Smith Paterson of Blaydon. It is constructed from cast iron and is painted white, although it was previously green. The milepost stands 0.40 metres tall and features a faceted twin-faced oval top on a fluted shaft, with a maker's plate positioned below a ring. The raised lettering indicates the distance to Alnwick and Sunderland, stating "ALNWICK No SUNDERLAND 4 10 MILES MILES."
