Description
The wellhead, located in a field 40 metres east of St. James' Road in Shilbottle village, is a small structure likely built in the early 19th century for the Duke of Northumberland. It is made of cut sandstone and measures 0.8 metres square and 1.5 metres high. The front features a recessed panel with a flattened triangular head, which encloses a Percy crescent above a low arched opening. The structure has chamfered angles, a moulded cornice, and a low pyramidal cap. The rear opening is closed by a slab.
