Description
The War Memorial in Falstone was built in 1921 and is made of stone. It features a Latin cross with wreath ornamentation carved in half relief on the cross head. The memorial stands on a two-part plinth; the upper part is a rusticated boulder that bears a shield with raised edges in half relief, displaying the dedication "ERECTED BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION IN HONOURED MEMORY OF." The names of the fallen are inscribed in single columns on the front and two sides of the lower tapering pedestal. Additionally, the upper base stone has the inscription "THEY SACRIFICED ALL FOR GOD KING AND COUNTRY. 1914-18." The rear face of the lower pedestal includes the inscription "SALUTE THE GLORIOUS DEAD WHO WENT OUT AND RETURNED NOT 1939-1945" followed by names. This memorial serves as a distinctive tribute to those who lost their lives in both World Wars.
