Description

Falstone Bridge, built in 1843 by Henry Welch, is a bridge made of rock-faced stone. It features three broad segmental arches with prominent voussoirs and rounded cutwaters. The bridge has a plain parapet with arched coping that flares out at each end. On the western parapet, there is a cast-iron plate inscribed with "HENRY WELCH, ENGINEER - JOHN RIDLEY, INSPECTOR, 1843." The eastern parapet bears the inscription "SURTEES and STEEL CONTRACTORS 1843."
