Description
This milestone, dating from the early 19th century, is located approximately 40 yards southeast of Catcleugh House. It is made of sandstone and painted white, standing about 2 feet high. The stone has a triangular shape with a rounded back. One side is inscribed with "NEWCASTLE," while the other side reads "JEDBORO 41 15 MILES." The milestone is now isolated from the road, which was relocated in 1894 during the construction of Catcleugh Reservoir.
