Description

This milepost, located 100 metres east of Whiteside North, is likely from the late 19th century and probably made by Smith Paterson of Blaydon. It is constructed from cast iron and is painted white with black figures. The milepost stands at a height of 0.50 metres and features a facetted twin-faced oval top on a fluted shaft. The raised legend on the milepost reads "MORPETH / BELSAY 6¼ / 3 MILES / MILES."
