Description
This milepost, located 240 metres west of the road to Smallburns, dates from the late 19th century and is likely the work of Smith Patterson Ltd. of Blaydon. It is made of cast iron and is painted white with black figures. The milepost features an oval top with faceted twin faces, mounted on a circular fluted shaft. The raised inscription indicates distances to Alnwick (5 miles) and Chatton (9¾ miles). The height of the milepost is 0.50 metre.
