Description
This milepost, located opposite West Edington, was likely made in the late 19th century by Smith Paterson of Blaydon. It is constructed from cast iron and is painted white with black figures. The milepost stands 0.60 metres tall and features a facetted twin-faced oval top on a fluted shaft, which has a maker's plate above a ring. The raised lettering indicates the distances to Morpeth and Belsay, stating "MORPETH / BELSAY 4 1/4 5 MILES MILES."
