Description

Lynn Law Farmhouse is an early 18th-century house with late 19th-century alterations, located in Whalton village. The front is of squared stone with coursed rubble to the rear, featuring cut stone dressings. The roof is covered with Scottish slate. The south elevation has two sections, with the original house being three bays and symmetrical. A chamfered plinth is present. The central doorway is a renewed one set within a chamfered opening. The windows are 20th-century small-paned casements, replacing earlier windows. The gables have coping returned on deep footstones, and there are stepped-and-banded end stacks. The two-bay right part was originally single-storey but was heightened in the 19th century, with similar windows, a coped gable, and an end stack. Adjacent to the farmhouse, Lynn Law Cottage has been altered and is not considered to be of particular architectural interest.
