Description
Lipwood House Cottage, located to the north-west of Lipwood House, dates from around 1800. It is constructed of rubble with a squared stone south return, featuring tooled and margined quoins and dressings. The cottage has a slate roof with stepped and corniced ashlar stacks. The front elevation, facing the yard, is two storeys high and has three windows. The ground floor includes a low left link to Lipwood House, a central double door, and a 12-pane sash window to the right. On the first floor, there are three 9-pane sash windows, with all openings displaying alternating jambs. The north return is covered by a modern garage. The gabled south return, which faces the entrance drive of Lipwood House, features Tuscan end pilasters that support a pediment and has blind windows. The rear elevation has similar windows to those at the front. Inside, the cottage contains contemporary or 19th-century woodwork, including panelled shutters for the ground floor windows.
