Description
Apple Trees is a cottage, likely built in the late 18th century to early 19th century, and modernized around 1970. It is constructed from colour-washed local stone and flint rubble, with a stone rubble stack topped by plastered 20th-century brick, and features a thatch roof. The cottage has a small two-room plan and faces southwest, with a gable-end stack at the right (southeast) end. The original entrance was probably at the front, but it is now located at the left end. The building is two storeys high and has secondary lean-to outshots on the left end and at the rear. The exterior has a two-window front with 20th-century casements that include glazing bars. The roof is gable-ended on the right and hipped on the left. The entrance on the left end has a 20th-century door behind a porch that is part of the outshot. Although the interior was not available for inspection at the time of the survey, Apple Trees is noted as an attractive roadside cottage that is part of a scattered group of listed buildings along the southern approach to Luppit.
