Description
Lowertown Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century and has undergone significant alterations in the early 20th century. It is constructed from plastered local stone rubble, possibly with some cob, and features a stone rubble stack topped with 20th-century brick. The main cottage has a thatched roof and a small two-room layout facing northeast. The larger room on the right is heated by a gable-end stack. There is an early 20th-century single-storey service outshot on the left (southeast) end, which includes a front lateral stack. The cottage is two storeys high.
The exterior has a two-window front with 20th-century casements that do not have glazing bars. The front doorway is located on the left, behind a 20th-century lean-to porch. The roof is gable-ended on the right and half-hipped on the left. Inside, there is little exposed carpentry detail, and the fireplace has been blocked.
