Description

Whinnetley Farmhouse is a house dated 1744, featuring the name 'Joseph Gibson' on a sundial above the front door. It has early 19th century and 20th century extensions. The building is constructed of squared stone with rusticated ashlar quoins and ashlar dressings. It has a slate roof with coped gables and moulded kneelers, along with a stepped and corniced ashlar stack on the right gable. The left gable stack has been rebuilt in brick on an old base.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with three symmetrical windows. The central doorway is flush-panelled and has an oblong fanlight in a raised surround with a moulded edge, topped by a notable 18th century sundial. The windows are 12-pane sashes set in raised surrounds. The right return features a rubble gable with two small attic lights in chamfered surrounds and a 19th century rear wing with later windows. The left return is similar, also having attic lights with iron bars. The rear elevation includes 19th century gabled rear wings with tooled and margined quoins, as well as a 20th century gable between them.
