Description

Tinkers is a detached cottage located on North Street in Haselbury Plucknett, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The building is constructed from cut and squared ham stone, with ashlar dressings, and features a Ludlow pattern concrete tiled roof with a shallow pitch between coped gables and brick end chimney stacks. It stands two storeys high and has three bays. The cottage has a plinth and rusticated quoins, with plain beaded mullioned windows that have shallow architraves. The outer bays contain three-light windows, while the upper bay two has a two-light window, all of which are rectangular leaded with iron-framed opening lights. The lower bay two features a three-centre-arched doorway with a beaded architrave, which holds a six-panelled door of Regency design set beneath a radially-glazed fanlight. The north gable is rendered, and there is a lean-to extension at the rear.

In front of the house, approximately 400mm away, are low wrought-iron railings that stand about 600mm high. The railings have alternating rails with plain arrowhead tips and others that are cut off at the top rail level. There is a break in the railings opposite the doorway, with curved returns back to each corner of the house.
