Description

The Old House is a detached house dating from the 17th century and later, located on the west side of North Street in Haselbury Plucknett. It is constructed from roughly cut and squared Ham stone with ashlar dressings, and features a thatched roof with a coped gable on the south side and a plain gable on the north. The house is single-storey with attics and consists of five bays.

In bay 1, there is a 3-light hollow-chamfered mullioned window set in a chamfered recess with a label. Bays 2 and 5 have 3-light leaded casements, while bays 3 and 4 contain 2-light casements. The upper windows are all 3-light older pattern casements that cut into the thatched roof, and the lower windows have timber lintels.

There is a boarded door in an open stone porch with a hipped thatched roof at the lower bay 3, and a stable door to the right of bay 4. Additionally, there is an added single-light window between bays 4 and 5, along with garage doors in bay 5. A small single-storey forward extension is located at the north-east corner, featuring a double Roman clay tiled roof. The interior has not been seen.
