CORBRIDGE FARNLEY NZ 06 SW 10/138 Farm buildings to north and west of Farnley farmhouse

Planned farmbuildings, early C19 extended mid-C19. Rubble with cut dressings; Welsh slate roofs. L-plan. North range in 2 parts: to left shelter sheds with granary over: 4 segment-headed arches, some blocked, the 3 to left with brick voussoirs; 2 pitching doors above with 3 part-slatted windows between. To right, mid-C19 1-storey 4-bay range: segment-headed cart entrance with boarded double doors, stable door flanked by part-slatted windows and boarded door. Right end bay recessed pair of pigsties with dovecote in roofspace; external stone stair utilises broad wall dividing sty exercise yards. All openings of mid-C19 section have stop-chamfered alternating-block surrounds.

West range stables and barn, 2 storeys, 4 irregular bays; boarded doors and part-slatted windows, all in chamfered surrounds. To rear, gingang has 6 timbered openings and conical roof; roof structure with central post carried on tie beam, with radial ties, struts and 2 levels of purlins.
