Description
The farm buildings located to the west of Prior's Hall Farmhouse are listed as a group of special architectural interest. The south range is dated 1777 on its lintel, while the north range has dates of 1820 and 1828. The buildings are constructed from squared stone with tooled dressings, featuring a stone slate roof on the north range and slate roofs elsewhere. The ranges form three sides of a rectangular farmyard that is open to the east.
The north range is two storeys high and consists of five irregular bays, functioning as shelter sheds with a granary above. It includes an arcade of three segmental arches, with the inscription 'T, Stokoe 1820' on the left pier. To the right, there is a boarded door, and to the left, a stone stair leads to a boarded granary door, which has 'J.T. 1828' inscribed on its lintel. There are part-slatted windows to the right of this entrance.
The west range is a single-storey former threshing barn, featuring two boarded doors set in alternating-block surrounds. The south range is also a single-storey structure that originally served as byres but is now used as a tractor shed. It has two boarded doors in chamfered surrounds, two similar doors at the rear, and a 20th-century opening in the east gable.
