Description

Catreen Farmhouse, outbuildings, and wall are a group of structures dating from the early 19th century. They are built from dressed stone and topped with a Welsh slate roof, forming three ranges around a farmyard.

The west range features a two-storey farmhouse on the left, which has three bays and a central four-panelled door set in a plain surround. The windows are 16-pane sashes. The gabled roof has flat coping, kneelers, and two stone corniced end stacks. To the right, there is a single-storey cartshed with double entry and a half-slatted window.

The north range consists of a two-storey byre with a granary above. It has two segmental arches leading to the byres, with a plank pitching door above in a chamfered alternating-block surround, along with ventilation slits and one half-slatted window.

The east range contains single-storey byres and a stable, featuring two plank doors in chamfered alternating-block surrounds and ventilation slits.

Attached to the rear of the north range is a slightly later two-storey cartshed with a store room above. This section has two segmental arches, two four-pane windows on the first floor, and a pitching door on the left return, all with chamfered surrounds and shouldered lintels.

All the farm buildings have gabled roofs with flat copings. The fourth side of the farmyard is enclosed by a wall made of roughly dressed stone with ridged coping and gate piers.
