Description
Number 8 is a mid-19th century house, built incorporating older fabric. It is constructed of high-quality, tooled-and-margined stone, with cut dressings. The roof is slate, and it has yellow brick stacks with stone cornices. The house is two storeys high and has four bays. The second bay has a six-panel door with a plain overlight. To the left, boarded double doors are set under a segmental arch with a raised keystone. There are four-pane sash windows, each set within a raised, moulded surround. A moulded eaves cornice runs along the top. Coped gables and stepped-and-corniced end stacks are present. To the right, the lower, flat-coped wall of an attached outbuilding connects with the front garden wall of the adjacent Emberside House. The building is included on the list for its group value.
