Description
The forecourt wall, railings, and gates to Bridge End House date from the early 18th century. They are constructed from squared stone with cut dressings and feature wrought iron elements. The structure includes rusticated piers with attached jambs, pulvinated friezes, and moulded caps topped with ball finials on swept bases. The double gates are designed with a scrolly half rail and dogbars that have trefoil twist tops, and a tall scrolly overthrow displays a central panel featuring a monogram of opposed Bs. The forecourt walls, which are 0.6 meters high, have rusticated angle quoins and low arched coping. The railings are supported by urn-topped standards and feature bars with alternating swept arrowhead and twist tops. Scrolly panels are located near each end, with similar paired panels at the center of each return. The top rail runs continuously above a small gate on the right return. At the time of the survey, the ironwork was noted to be in poor condition.
