Description
The garden wall and gates to Emberside House, likely built in the early 19th century, are made of squared stone with near-ashlar quality and feature wrought iron elements. The structure includes square piers that have a chamfered plinth and banded domed caps, supporting double gates. These gates have an arched lower rail, a downswept top rail, and spearhead bars. The flanking walls are approximately 1 metre high and topped with arched coping. At the left end, a similar pier and a taller section of wall connect to the outbuilding of No. 8 Bridge Street. Historically, this wall was the front of the former garden of Warkworth House, which is now Warkworth House Hotel. The 20th-century railings and the rebuilt inturned section of wall at the right end are not of special interest.
