Description
No. 20 Dial Place is a house that dates from the late 18th century and was extended in the second quarter of the 20th century. The original part is built of squared stone, while the extension features tooled stone. It has a Welsh slate roof with brick stacks and stands two storeys high with three bays. There is a band at the first floor level.
The central arched doorway features a six-panel door with beaded mouldings, set in a moulded timber surround beneath a painted imitation fanlight. Above the door is a stone gabled hood supported by consoles. The windows are 12-pane sash windows with slightly projecting sills, except for the ground-floor window on the left, which has a projecting flat-roofed extension that includes a plinth, a six-panel door, an overlight, and paired 12-pane sashes. The gables are coped, with the left gable featuring a moulded kneeler. There are end stacks, with the left stack resting on an old brick base.
The extension appears to be contemporary with, and likely part of, the adjacent Co-op building.
