Description

HARTLEPOOL THE VALE NZ 4832 (west side) 3/125 Low Tunstall Farmhouse and screen wall attached.

GV II

Farmhouse. Probably C17, possibly with earlier remains, later alterations. Coursed limestone walling and concrete interlocking tile roof with stone gable coping, left end and ridge stacks: rendered. Catslide roof at rear with narrow intersecting gable. 2 storeys and possibly of 2 builds. 3 + 1 windows. Main garden front: replaced sash windows with glazing bars on first floor, except for a small tripartite sash on right. On ground floor a C20 French window, a recessed doorway and 2 mid C19 20-pane sashes. At right a short screen wall in front of wood stair to first-floor granary door. Pent extension behind. Small new attic window in gable end. Old fire insurance plaque in centre of front elevation.
