Description

Greystones is a large house dating to circa 1905. It was constructed primarily of concrete with a deeply overhanging, hipped slate roof, and features various rendered stacks. Quoins are present. The west front has seven bays, with a projecting central three-bay section. A round-headed central doorway has double panel doors and a fanlight, flanked by single round-headed windows, all sheltered by a projecting porch with four Ionic columns supporting a balustraded balcony. Above the doorway are three plain sashes, and above those, a projecting pediment with central oculi and strapwork decoration. To either side of the central section are single canted bay windows, and above these are two plain sashes. The south front has four bays, with three tall plain sashes to the left and a triple-light glazed door to the right, and four plain sashes above. A single-storey addition extends beyond this section. The north front presents a five-bay wing with pedimented, plain sashes on the ground floor and plain sashes above. Adjacent to this is a three-storey tower, which is followed by a lower two-storey service wing. The interior features a fine wooden Imperial staircase, along with typical Edwardian fireplaces and panelling.
